The most hummed music in Indian cinema often has no lyrics at all. Background scores are stepping into the spotlight, with composers selling out auditoriums performing themes audiences carry home from theatres.

From screen to stage

Concert producers describe full orchestras recreating action motifs and romantic themes as crowds cheer recognition. Sync screens replay the scenes while the music plays live.

Why scores connect

Psychologists of film music point to repetition: a theme heard across a three-hour epic bonds with memory. Hearing it live, fans say, feels like meeting an old friend.

A new revenue line

For composers, tours add income beyond scoring fees and rights. Expect more theme concerts as the format proves itself city after city.
